Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology
Head of Laboratory
RNDr. Ivo Juránek, DSc.
Studies of the Laboratory are particularly focused on hypoxic-ischemic (HI) injury of the neonatal brain and resulting neonatal HI encephalopathy (HIE). Advanced animal models are utilized, using mostly laboratory rats, and a number of contemporary approaches are applied to study underlying molecular mechanisms of neonatal HIE. Our intention is to reveal key pathogenic process(es) in order to intervene effectively by either pharmacological or non-pharmacological means. Methods used include non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) applied in vivo, standard histology, ex vivo mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) applied on coronal brain slices, etc.
